Ringo's

Sometimes Ringo is lost in idle fancies. Misgiving about the future, distress for existence. Wrong faiths and right ways. And thinking about the world, me or them.

Last Day

Today was the last of Global program’s lecture. Of course exams still remain, but regular lectures were over. Professor John said us this. Oops! We couldn’t consider about it. Two semesters has already finished. Always time is flying so we cannot linger at one time. Because Meeting and farewell are destinies, I can say good-bye brightly. Dear my friends, dear our professors, I will miss you.

About Losing someone

Life, is the short voyage

Some time ago, I met a nightmare. In my dream, my third-year high-school class teacher was dying. She had a severe cancer and took her leave. I didn’t accept that. I cried and screamed her why didn’t she try to do anything. Suddenly I woke from this terrible dream. My tears were wetting my pillow. I couldn’t sleep again.

We are always walking with death. We don’t know, or know someone could be killed by accidentally. No one can live ever after but sometimes people die too much early ages.

Death, is the most fearful word or the most peaceful word.

I have not experienced my closed person’s death yet. Maybe I will go through my precious beings’ death from now on. I have to endure and overcome it.

People can grow up by someone’s death. Someday I will die away like dew of flowers
.

About winter

Winter has come. Cold winds blow harsh. Maples are falling down, trees are being bare. It is nature’s circulation system lasting everlasting. People’s minds follow this cycle. In winter they feel lonely and look for someone. Severe cold make us painful, but we know spring will come again, so we endure. Because we know flowers bloom again, fading away for winter is not sad.

When I was young, my dream was…

Do you still believe that you can fly?

Everyone has lost his or her young-ages dream. Now I understand. Though I am still young, at least I know children and adults cannot help being different. Children can and need to dream. When I was young, I was a girl full of romance. I didn’t care and doubt about my future. I didn’t have to worry about money. Now I just 20 years old, but I am coming out of my dreams. The person, who can’t follow the real world, can’t live in the real world. It is an inevitable truth.

At once, I hoped that I could be work for natures and wild animals. I had a confidence about my will. Still I don’t throw away my dream, but I can’t ensure me.

Mew 2nd Album

And The Glass Handed Kites

I bought Mew’s second album with Jaurim’s 6th album. My impression about it is very different from Jaurim’s. I think Mew is developing. They play what I want exactly. Vocal’s voice is still fascinated. It is weak so looks breakable but strong. Lyrics are desperate but sweat. It is nonsensical expression but true. I like their dreamlike sound and fairy-tale writings. Mew is cat’s
crying sound. Their music is as fascinated as is their group name.

Jaurim 6th Album

Ashes to Ashes

Jaurim…Jaurim…
Nowadays this name make my heart hurt. Their 6th album was released in the end. Sweet reward for my thirsty or once more sorrowful disappointment for my expectation. Of course there are so good tracks on this new album. However Their new creation could not meet my expectation again. Disappointment about what I eager for is as big as my pain for waiting. I know Jaurim makes their own music, I am just a listener and a fan. I can’t be satisfied with theirs; there is nothing that I can, so I am sorrowful.

Tough regulations for foreign lawyers

http://kr.news.yahoo.com/service/news/shellview.htm?linkid=10&articleid=2006112008104781285&newssetid=455

Foreign law firms will neither be allowed to hire Korean lawyers nor ally with local companies when the country opens its legal service market in the near future. Their area of business will also be limited to cases related to international law and treaties.

Several rules about foreign law firms and lawyers were established. To make right law firm business, I think it is necessary treat. Lawyers are high earning jobs, so it is fair!

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Director : Henry Selick

The movie that I watched in a theater the first in my life was Nightmare before the Christmas. At that time I was a little 10 year-old kid. Actually I slept during watched this movie. To confess, this film was hard to understand for young me. Halloween town’s pumpkin king Jack kidnapped Santa Clause and ruined people’s Christmas. He gave children creepy gifts such as spiders, eyes…

After I grew up and when I understood this movie, I knew Jack was sincere. Halloween town was weird and isolated. In this town strange-shaped creatures lived, but they were loneliness souls. They wanted to belong to warm and bright people’s world even though they knew that they couldn’t.

It will be remade to 3D movie by Tim Burton. This movie resembles his weird but pure mind.

Quit EZINE

I am a cub reporter of Dong-seo university English magazine, E-ZINE. Next year I will be a regular reporter. For this year, there were several episodes about E-ZINE. Something was good and something made me crazy. The deadline of articles let me experience the hell… Instead of these hardships, I have agony about what I gave from E-ZINE activities. What did I get during this year? Before this, did I do my best on my work? If I couldn’t anything, why do I have to carry on this hard work? Nowadays, I can’t sleep well.

Mid-term Exam

About a Global Leadership

Alexander the Great, he was the conqueror who remains as a legend.

Many historians don’t hesitate to point him out as the greatest leader

all over the world. Why do I deny that? He was the real hero building

up a large empire where includes Greece to western and India to eastern.

His great ideal that he dreamed when he became a king of Macedonia

was an expedition to the East. Actually he led many wars without any

defeat during about 12 years when the period of his reign. If someone

doubts his ability as a leader, just look at his achievements. Moreover,

he was not just a warmonger who was crazy about a desire conquest.

The culture of Hellenism, which was mixed with the culture of Greece

and the Orient, flourished on his period. Through this, we can know

what he wanted was the real union empire where all people could be

together. Then, what can we learn through Alexander’s life? Even if he

was a human so he was not perfect, we are able to see various virtues

on his life. A real leader, he has to have strong but gentle charisma.

A leader in general must lead the public smartly and take charge of safety

and lives of them. He takes authorities to rule the people. He has to

use it for himself and all people at the same time. Leaders who tyrannize

a country are punished by insurgents, weak kings are deprived his

authorities by villainous retainers and make a country confused.

Sensible using of authorities is necessary to a leader. A leader has to

have wise ears and eyes. He should tell who are sincere advisers and

who are crafty adulators.Resolution and a thrust are also important

to a director. If Alexander forgave up the expedition to the eastward

and tolerance about people of mixed race because of opposition of

his retainers, how could he establish his empire? Sometimes a director

has to fight alone. The most important thing of a leader is to throw an

exclusive point of view and have an open mind. A society, which is

composed of various people cannot help having troubles. These

problems usually happen because of prejudices or feelings of superiorities

to others. A competent leader is duty bound to get along them.

In this point, Alexander’s policy that bridges the cultural gaps between

east and west was great. Nowadays, whole world becomes close fast

and we undergo such many changes in short time. So we need to have

more global mind. People don’t fight for conquer anymore. However

it is the real ideal of Alexander that he wanted to do through his empire

that we have to remember. His mind went a step ahead of his

contemporaries so he failed. Even though we live in the world

after 2000 years of him, racial discrimination and ethnocentrism

still overflow on the world. Why do not people consider his great

thoughts that of a pioneer?

U.S. envoy turns eye on Gaeseong

http://news.nate.com/Service/natenews/ShellView.asp?ArticleID=2006111300151837118&LinkID=95

The U.S. special envoy on human rights in North Korea, has expressed reservations about the Gaesong industrial complex project in North Korea run jointly with the South, He also suggested drawing China and South Korea into the Japan-U.S. dialogue on North Korean abductions and other human rights issues.

North Korea is a cause of our headache. Why do they do nuclear test? Oh god! I don’t know their real intention. Does who know…. I really hope North Korea quit these thoughtless behaviors. We try to help them, but they make trouble always. I don’t know we can unify peacefully.

Violence of chimpanzee

Yesterday, I watched a surprising program on TV. This was a documentary about wild animals. In general, people think Chimps are similar to human, but they have tender and good characters. However, can you imagine? They share a lot of aspects with us, human being, especially in violence. I saw a group of male chimps that attacked another group’s male chimps. They broke into other group’s territory. It seems to be a war of humans. They hit and kicked a male chimp cruelly. The chimp would be hard to live. Until now, I think the human is only one creature that kills each other regardless of their existence. Violence is a result of the brain’s excessive develops? Then our intelligence is what for?

Life after death

Where will I go after my death? This topic has been asked since starting of human being’s history. There are several religions in this world and each one has their own concept about posthumous world. Each names is different but the original precepts are similar. Good people go to the heaven or get salvation but bad people go the hell. Ah! What a simple but strong truth! I don’t believe any religions exactly. However if I have to choose one inevitable, I will say I believe the Buddhism. I think ghosts exist. Even though I have never been died and seen them, I believe there are another world of the deceased. If I could know where I go after my death, will I am happy?

More foreigners get state help

http://news.nate.com/Service/natenews/ShellView.asp?ArticleID=2006110700134733118&LinkID=95

From now on, the government will provide financial support for more low-income foreigners and increase contributions to the living expenses of poor households, the Ministry of Health and Welfare said yesterday. Foreigners who have been residing here for more than a year will also benefit from the new measure.

Korea is little bit hard to live for foreigners. There are just few rules that ensure their rights. I think this article is so good news to them, especially foreign laborers. There are many people who insist their unfair treatment. I hope that Korea will be a nice country for everyone.

My memory of...

This Sunday, I will meet my high school third-year class friends. I graduated from Busan seo-girls’ high school. My fellow students almost live in Busan. So I meet them regularly. In Korea high school students’ life is not easy. Especially third year students are so stressful and hard because they prepare the College Scholastic Ability Test. I was painful too at that time. I hated high school study and I didn’t know why I was studying. The only reason I could endure such that harsh period, was my precious people. Specially, my class teacher helped me much. She heard my agonies and counseled. Still I like her. She is my best teacher in my life. And my classmates were good, too. Actually they didn’t like and study hard but they had pure mind and a lot of smile. Sometimes I miss them and that time. Maybe so do my friends. Even though we really disliked study and exam, we could enjoy that time because we were together.

Speech Contest

Dong-seo university holds students speech contest every semester. Today was that day. Our many global students participated in this contest. Last semester I took part in it, too. But after contest, most of the participants and audiences said about fairness of the contest. All judges were English major professors so maybe it in not so fair. Actually my friends and I were hard to accept today’s winner. Anyway Hae-ri and You-jin took the 4th and 3rd price. I am very happy about that. Congratulations my clever friends!

Workers get older, more educated

http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/archives/result_contents.asp?id=200611010041&query=workers%20get

Korea's workforce is becoming increasingly older, more educated and more polarized in terms of wage levels. Wage differences by educational background have been on the increase since 2002. The wage gap by company size has also been widening since 2004.

Workforce is becoming older. I think it reflects the aging society. People get a job lately and retire at the late age, too. And wage gap by educational background and company size have been widening. Maybe it is not good phenomenon to develop of society and solve a gap between the rich and the poor.
